Xīn nuò fēi installed the world's first bat-friendly streetlight for the Dutch town

DATE:2018-07-09

In the implementation of the sustainable human settlement project, the Dutch town Zuidhoek-Nieuwkoop chose the bat-friendly road lighting system specially developed by Xīn nuò fēi to reduce the impact of artificial lighting on bats.

Global lighting leader Yannuofei (Amsterdam-European stock exchange code: LIGHT) recently announced that it has completed the installation of the world's first bat-friendly road lighting system. Thanks to the new LED streetlight products, the nighttime activities of the rare bats in the Dutch town of Zuidhoek-Nieuwkoop will not be disturbed by human activities. The system's streetlights are specially designed to avoid the effects of natural sensations and rhythms on bats with special light recipes. This special light formula is energy efficient, providing safe lighting for residents to travel at night, while the perception of bats is no different from darkness. This lighting system is another innovation that Yannuo leads the development of LED lighting technology in the field of smart interconnection and environmental protection.

Protection of flora and fauna

Zuidhoek-Nieuwkoop is home to many rare flora and fauna, and the town and its surrounding areas are part of the Natura 2000 Nature Reserve project, a European network of rare animal conservation designed to help breed rare and endangered animals and plants. The environment in which it grows. In 2011, Nieuwkoop began to build 89 homes that meet the highest sustainable standards. The installation of innovative streetlights in this environmentally friendly community will help Zuidhoek-Nieuwkoop's rare bats maintain their environment and respond to the call to protect rare plants and animals.

“Nieuwkoop is the first town in the world to install a bat-friendly smart LED road lighting system. When developing our unique Habitat community, our goal is to do our best in environmental protection, especially the impact on the survival of rare bats in the area. We have reduced it to a minimum. Now that we have succeeded, this lighting system can minimize our carbon emissions and energy consumption,” Gueus Elkhuizen, member of the Nieuwkoop City Council, said in an interview.

In order not to affect the nighttime foraging activities of bats, a light formula jointly developed by Yanfeifei, Wageningen University and NGOs came into being in this field of protection. The red wavelength of this light recipe does not affect the bat's "bio-compass." Prior to this, the light of ordinary streetlights not only greatly affected the flight and nighttime activities of bats, but also attracted their main prey, insects.

Use as needed, energy saving and environmental protection

In order to better optimize lighting management, the local government deployed the Interact – Urban Smart Interconnected Lighting and Management Operation and Maintenance System. The lighting management system enables real-time, remote control of LED lighting points, which can save up to 70% energy compared to conventional high-pressure sodium lamps. The system can remotely control any lighting point through the intelligent internet, helping relevant departments to quickly respond to residents' needs for changes in the brightness of lights outside the home, and even quickly brighten the area for emergency services. In the dead of night, the lights can be adjusted to darker, reducing unnecessary energy consumption.

In March 2017, Yannuo installed an innovative smart interconnected LED road lighting system for Ameland, the Netherlands. The system uses Philips ClearSky technology to emit light blue-green light. This light provides the illumination needed for human nighttime activities without affecting the lives of birds and nocturnal animals. At the same time, it can save energy, improve public safety, and protect the sustainable development requirements of migratory birds' living environment.
