Another plant project: the 29,000 square meter greenhouse will use LED growth lights
Date:2018-08-14
On the 7th, Plessey announced that it has partnered with a Dutch lettuce-growing company, B-Four Agro, to provide plant growth lamps for its new greenhouse, B4Hydrogrow B.V, with a greenhouse area of ??29,000 square meters.
It is reported that the greenhouse of B4Hydrogrow is under construction. It is planned to install the LED growth lamp of Hyperion 1750. The light output is 1750 micromoles per second, which is equivalent to 1000 watts of SON-T high pressure sodium lamp. The entire range of Hyperion growth lamps is in a standard and fixed spectral range. This growing lamp has many features and can provide a higher profit margin for growers.
B-Four Agro, a company that supplies vegetables to the food processing industry, plans to convert its outdoor planting methods into indoor greenhouse hydroponics and has invested in a new greenhouse under its subsidiary B4Hydrogrow B.V.
In order to fully adopt LEDs, B4Hydrogrow intends to make full use of the planting space to achieve maximum yield and highest quality lettuce by using Plessey's Hyperion growth lamps with specific wavelengths. At the same time, compared to SON-T high-pressure sodium lamps, LED lamps generate less heat and can save up to 40% of energy.
Malessen Klein, Plessey's chief agronomist, said that the use of LED to grow lettuce has proven to be very successful. By using Hyperion LED lights, growers can use artificial light when the greenhouse temperature is low to maximize productivity.
